1 Corinthians 3:18-23

18: Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
19: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS”;
20: and again, “THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.” 21: So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you,
22: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,
23: and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.

Back to the subject of wisdom, Paul said for them not to deceive themselves. If anyone thought he was wise, he was not, and he must admit that before he could receive the wisdom of God. Paul quoted Job 5:13 that God catches the wise in their craftiness, and Psalm 94:11 that the thoughts of man—the reasonings of the wise—are useless, a mere breath.

The wisdom of God far exceeds the thoughts of man. It would be arrogance that would cause someone to think they are wiser than Him, or even on the same level, as we saw in chapters one and two. Proverbs 9:10 says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we want true wisdom, we must first humble ourselves before Him in all cases.

So then, Paul said not to boast in men for, “all things belong to you.” He included himself, Apollos, Cephas, and even the world, life, death, the present, and the future. Don’t bicker about petty things, for everything is yours. We have a great inheritance in Christ. All things belong to you, and of course, you belong to Christ, and Christ to God. There’s no need to boast in any man’s supposed wisdom, God has given us everything. He has not held back.
